This website is a purely private project for planning and documenting a personal trip on Route 66. It is intended for the information of friends and interested parties and does not pursue any commercial interests.
The protection of your data is important to me. Due to the technical architecture of this site, personal data is only processed to the extent necessary for the trip planning functionality.
1. User Account & Content Storage
To use the planning functions, the user chooses a nickname and provides travel data (start date, direction of travel). This data, as well as personal comments on individual waypoints (POIs) voluntarily entered by the user, are stored on the server to make them available to the user upon return. Storage is solely for the purpose of individual trip planning.
2. Local Hosting & No Third-Party Providers
To protect your privacy, all resources (map tiles, Leaflet libraries, fonts, and scripts) are loaded directly from this server. There is no automatic connection to third-party servers when accessing the site.
3. Cookies
This website uses only technically necessary cookies. We use so-called "session cookies" (session identification) to manage your login and maintain your settings during your visit. These cookies do not contain personal data and are automatically deleted after closing your browser. Using the website without these technically necessary cookies is not possible for functional reasons.
4. Server Log Files
The web server stores only technically necessary data in log files (IP address, date/time, page accessed, browser type). This data is essential for the operation, security, and stability of the system. It is not merged with other data sources.
5. Translation Function (Google Cloud API)
For the automatic translation of texts, we use the Google Cloud Translation API as needed. This is executed entirely server-side. This means your browser does not establish contact with Google. Only the content text to be translated is transmitted anonymously to Google Cloud servers for processing.
6. Your Rights
In principle, you have the right to information, correction, deletion, and restriction of data processing. Users can have their stored data and comments deleted at any time by sending a message to the email address mentioned above.

Links to external websites were checked at the time of linking; however, I have no influence on their subsequent content.
